About Us

BARE (Bay Area Rope Exchange) is a group of rope bondage enthusiasts who aim to foster a strong, informed, and growing San Francisco Bay Area rope community by:

• Organizing and hosting events, with a special focus on exhibiting at the Folsom Street Fair annually
• Promoting bondage education
• Advocating for bondage safety

While our focus is on the local rope community, we support connections with the worldwide rope community, such as by welcoming non-locals interested in teaching here or attending our events.

Daddy Dominant and Rope Top who has been exploring kink my entire adult life and out in the public community for 20 years. Within the community I have played many parts. Over the years I have been fairly active in both the Los Angeles and San Francisco Bay Area communities. I used to assist in running a playspace in Santa Clara called Edges that was committed to providing a safe space for people to learn and explore different aspects of sexuality. Helped start the Edges Wet Munch, which is now the Renegades Wet Munch. An organizer of the first SF GrUE. I have been a part-time educator in the community, teaching at places like Lair De Sade, Avatar LA, Edges Plaspace, Efest West, Southern Cross, and Society of Janus.

Looking to share knowledge and spread the joy of rope to all who might be interested! Hoping to help bottoms avoid injury and get the most out of their rope experiences through my classes, YouTube videos, blog posts, and books, Better Bondage for Every Body and The Little Guide to Getting Tied Up. True Blue

Blue is the founder and owner of VoxBody Studio, a sex-positive and body-positive rope studio in Oakland, the first of its kind in the Bay Area!

Blue has been teaching and performing Japanese rope bondage across the U.S. since 2012. She teaches monthly classes at the SF Armory, co-facilitates rope bottoms roundtables in SF, and presented rope bottoming education at Bondage Expo Dallas and Anatomie Studios London, as well as many other classes and community events locally. Last year, she launched the Women Tying Women series, which emphasizes a safe space for students to learn and practice the intimate art of rope bondage.

Blue loves to explore both sides of rope—as a bottom and as an emerging rigger—and believes switching helps to bring a well-rounded perspective on the physical and emotional needs and possibilities for both partners.
